So, where do I start when talking about 2014? It’s been a great, great year, and I’ve been blessed to have had almost 50 couples choose me to capture their day, as well as a sneaky proposal too…!
My cameras have travelled a fair bit this year, with weddings in the South of France and Turkey, and all over the UK, too. It hasn’t mattered where I’ve been, though, as it’s always the people – the moments – that count, that make me love doing this ‘job’.
Professionally, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind, topped off with being named as one of Rangefinder’s ’30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography’ in the world. Wowser, I still can’t believe that – such an honour – still pinching myself! Early in the year I was awarded ‘Best Reportage Photographer’ for the second year running (WWA), I won a Fearless Award, was asked to judge Wedding Photography Select’s Excellence Awards, and was also named as one of the ‘Top 10 Creative Wedding Photographers in the UK’. 2015 will also see me running ‘Law School’, my punly-named workshop (which is sold out, but you can register interest for further dates over here), and I’m honoured to have been asked to speak at the UK’s first wedding photography festival in April 2015, ‘Snap!’.
I shake my head looking back at that last paragraph; still can’t believe it!
Personally, I’ve felt amazingly lucky to be doing something I love, surrounded each weekend (and quite a few midweek days too!) by so much joy and love. When not shooting or editing I’ve again felt so lucky to be able to spend time with my beautiful wife and daughter – and we’ve got another baba on the way in 2015, too! Lastly, I’ve again felt just so darn lucky to have made so many friends this year – the UK wedding photography scene is just choc-full of amazing, supportive photographers, and it’s been an honour getting to know – and sharing a cider with! – so many of you this year.
So, I’ll stop rambling now! This is a little collection of some of my favourite images from 2014…
