Jon and Sarah got married in February at St Piran’s Church, Perranarworthal, with the reception at one of my favourite Cornish venues, The Rosevine. It was a really lovely, personal affair, with their closest friends and family – most of which were all staying at The Rosevine, too – and they did it their way: no first dance, no proper speeches (although they couldn’t stop a few words from being said…!) no rigid traditions stuck to, and I love that. Indeed, I think a big part of why they chose me to cover their day was because I don’t set up or pose people at all (their initial enquiry even said ‘we think your style would be ideal for two people who mostly try to avoid being in photos!’); they wanted someone who would cover and capture their day ‘as is’, and hopefully that’s what I achieved.
I started my coverage with Sarah’s bridal prep at The Rosevine, where I was also able to cover Jon getting ready as he was only a few rooms down. I loved getting lots of lovely shots of their 5 month old daughter – I love kids at weddings, actually, can’t beat them for photographic material! – who you’ll see pops up quite a few times over the coming shots! We all then went over the King Harry Ferry in vintage coaches to the ceremony at St Piran’s Church. It was the first time I’d shot there; very pretty, with a very relaxed and laid back vicar too, which is always a bonus.
We then all went back to the lovely Rosevine for their wedding breakfast, impromptu speeches, dancing, and a fabulous firework display to top the night off; a grand day.
Here are a selection of photos from their wedding:
