*Update: Amy and Chris’ wedding has just been featured on the fab Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it’s the people who make weddings for me. From DIY weddings with only a handful of guests, to grand stately homes with hundreds, it doesn’t matter about the details, the cost – it’s all about two people in love, sharing the moment with the people who are closest to them. That’s what makes weddings. Amy and Chris’ day was no exception – a truly lovely couple, with the loveliest people around them – but it can also do no harm that they also had one of the most beautiful backdrops for a marquee wedding I’ve ever seen, the quite majestic Caerhays Castle, with its lake and beach view. Quite awesome!
They also happened to choose one of the prettiest churches I’ve had the pleasure to shoot at too, St Just in Roseland Church. So although it’s definitely about the people, I don’t complain either when the choice of wedding venues are so lush…!
Their wedding also featured one of the most touching moments this (quite sadly emotional!) photographer has witnessed, in Chris’ Best Man’s speech, who is also his brother. I must admit to keeping the camera up to my eye a little bit longer than normal after his tale of Chris returning a holiday purchase so he could afford to buy his younger brother a toy… it’s bizarre how different things can affect you; I’ve found I’m quite the sucker for father of the bride speeches (perhaps because I have my own little daughter, though she is only 17 months and a long way off from being given away!) and tales of sibling love.
Gah, you don’t want to be reading about how soppy I am, on to a selection of their Caerhays Castle wedding photos instead! (And friends and family can view the whole collection over here).
How true that it is the people that make a wedding – couldn’t agree more Alan. Lovely set of images and some beautiful use of light. Nice.
Thanks a lot, Tom; means a lot coming from you, cheers!

Totally agree that it’s the people. And your ability to catch people’s emotions is incredible!
