Wedding Photographer Dorney Court, Windsor
Ah this was a lush day! The sun shone on two very sunny people, with the absolutely lovely Luci & Rich having their ceremony outside at Dorney Court. It was my second time at this fab venue, and – randomly – the second time photographing a Eurovision star at a wedding!
Ha, yes, I had previously photographed Sam Ryder (the UK’s Eurovision entry from a few years ago, who did brilliantly and came 2nd) when he was a wedding singer some years ago, and at Luci & Rich’s wedding I photographed another Eurovision star: Ben Adams, from the boy band A1, who performed in Eurovision with his side-band ‘Subwoolfer’. Ben is Luci’s brother, and they even did an homage to Ben’s appearance on Eurovision in their First Dance – see the last photo below for more!
“Oh MY! I love them!
We both think you captured the day so beautifully and you have made two very awkward people in front of the camera look not awkward at all- which is award worthy.
So thank you! It was an absolute pleasure working with you and if you need us to write any reviews on anything please just let me know! We’re more than happy to of course. – Luci & Rich
Anyway, on to a selection of some of my favourite Dorney Court wedding photography from their day:
Final bits of prep done, Luci heads down the stairs to begin her last walk as a single woman! I like the different viewpoint here, from above, making your eye dart from Luci and then all around the railings and back to her. A totally natural moment, of course, as all my work is (apart from if you want any groups, and/or couple-time).
Ah look at the way they’re looking at each other! I *love* capturing looks like this; they’re so important, yet can be so fleeting. This is during their outside ceremony, whilst a family member was doing a reading. I get shots of the reader too, of course, but then I look to get reactions and interactions like this.
Walking down the aisle after just being announced husband and wife! I love how happy Luci looks, and Rich looks so proud.
Straight after the ceremony they went to see their son, and I love how all three of them seem to be walking in the same way – family linked!
You can never have enough confetti! Think you’ve got enough? Wrong! Triple or quadruple it, ha!
I don’t feature many ‘detail’ shots, but when I do, it’s virtually always about the people as well – because, after all, that’s what weddings are about: People, not details. So yes, this is a ‘detail’ shot of the venue, but it shows all of their family and friends enjoying the day. People.
A huge smile from Luci during the speeches. I love to find different and interesting compositions like this, elevating a simple moment to something more visually compelling.
Luci & Rich wanted a few shots of just the two of them, and so we took a 5 minute break during their reception to get some ‘couple time’ images. During this specific time, although I may ask you to be in a certain place for a shot or two, for a nice composition or to be in some lush light, I’m still not posing you – I let you both be and interact naturally, rather than running you through a tired series of poses. This means the shots are more about you, rather than the photographer.
After the speech, the embrace.
This is when Luci & Rich did a surprise homage to Luci’s brother Ben, who performed at Eurovision with Subwoolfer – the shades and the dance moves mimicking their performance brilliantly! So good!
