North Cadbury Court Wedding Photographer / India & Paul

North Cadbury Court Wedding Photographer

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings at some incredible venues over the years, but North Cadbury Court is one of those places that always feels a little bit special.

Tucked away in the Somerset countryside, it’s the kind of venue that gives people room to properly settle in. Guests aren’t rushing between locations, people aren’t disappearing off to hotels halfway through the day, and the whole celebration tends to take on a relaxed, house-party atmosphere that I love photographing.

India and Paul’s wedding had exactly that feeling.

The day began quietly enough, with India getting ready upstairs. One of my favourite photographs from the morning is simply her standing in the doorway in her dress for the first time, that mixture of excitement and disbelief that seems to hit people just before everything becomes real.

Outside, the sunshine was relentless. The ceremony took place outdoors, with family and friends gathered around them in the Somerset sunshine. Looking through the photographs now, what stands out most isn’t the kiss itself, but the reaction behind it. Rows of smiling faces, applause, people leaning forward, completely invested in the moment. Those are often the photographs I find myself drawn back to years later.

There was laughter throughout the ceremony too. The sort of laughter that happens when two people are completely comfortable around each other. One of my favourite frames from the day shows India and Paul looking at each other during the ceremony, both laughing so hard that neither can quite compose themselves. Moments like that tell you far more about a relationship than any posed photograph ever could.

“Wow…where to start!

We LOVE the photos – you’ve absolutely caught the day as we wanted. It looks like we had the absolute best day with so much fun and laughter. I can testify that we definitely did!

I have shared the link with a couple of people so far, but will share far and wide once we’ve had a chance to really soak them all in. So many moments captured.

We’d love to send you a proper thank you if you have an address you can share with us at all?

I’m looking forward to picking and choosing all the pictures for the album and to hang around our house.

You’re the best! Thank you!” – India & Paul

Afterwards came hugs, congratulations and celebrations on the lawn. One image in particular makes me smile every time I see it: India embracing her new mother-in-law (wearing a spectacular hat), both of them grinning from ear to ear. It’s exactly the kind of spontaneous interaction that makes weddings such a joy to photograph.

There were children everywhere enjoying the sunshine too, including one particularly content baby receiving a kiss on the cheek and looking thoroughly pleased with the arrangement.

The speeches brought plenty more emotion. Paul’s Mum was so caught up in the moment that she was simultaneously filming on her phone and laughing uncontrollably. Another photograph captures India throwing her head back with laughter during the speeches, while Paul sits beside her doing exactly the same. Those kinds of reactions can’t be planned; they simply happen when people are having a genuinely brilliant time.

As evening arrived, the celebrations only became louder.

The dance floor was one of those dance floors photographers secretly hope for. At one point Paul appeared to be attempting some sort of breakdance move that left him sprawled across the floor while a circle of guests cheered him on. Whether it was entirely intentional remains open to debate.

Later, India and Paul filled the floor together, spinning and dancing while guests gathered around them clapping and shouting encouragement. By the end of the night, India had somehow acquired a microphone and was leading what felt like half the wedding party in a singalong.

Looking back through these photographs now, that’s probably what I remember most about their wedding.

Not the venue, despite how beautiful North Cadbury Court is.

Not the sunshine.

Not even the dance floor.

Just the sheer amount of joy that seemed to follow them around all day.

No posing. No staging. Just a wedding full of people who were genuinely delighted to be there.

And those are always my favourite kind.
