Atlantic Hotel Wedding Photographer, Newquay / Hannah & Danny

Atlantic Hotel Wedding Photographer

Hannah and Danny’s wedding at The Atlantic Hotel in Newquay was one of those days that seemed to contain a bit of everything: nerves, laughter, tears, wild dancing, heartfelt speeches, and some of the most joyful reactions I’ve ever had the chance to photograph.

As an Atlantic Hotel wedding photographer, what I love about the venue is the variety it offers throughout a wedding day. The elegant ceremony spaces, bright reception rooms, sweeping sea views and relaxed atmosphere all create opportunities for genuine moments to unfold naturally. And that’s exactly what happened throughout Hannah and Danny’s day.

One of my favourite photographs from the ceremony comes just before Hannah arrives. Danny stands at the front, trying to hold it together, wiping tears from his eyes as he waits. Then, in the background, slightly out of focus, Hannah appears with her father as they begin their walk towards him. It’s such a simple moment, but it says everything about the anticipation, emotion and significance of what’s about to happen.

The emotion didn’t stop there. During the speeches, Danny became the target of some brilliantly delivered stories from family members. One image shows him completely hiding his face in his hands as the room erupts around him. A few moments later he’s doubled over again, unable to look up, while Hannah sits beside him laughing. Those are exactly the kinds of moments I love photographing: completely unguarded reactions that no one could plan for and that become some of the most treasured memories afterwards.

“We just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful photos, we have enjoyed slowly going through them and sharing them with our closest family. We are so impressed with how you managed to be everywhere during the day, we think you must have had ninja training because there are shots where we definitely had no idea you were there!

Your framing was one of the reasons we chose you and you absolutely didn’t let us down – really a cut above the rest. We also wanted to say thanks for being a calm and kind presence on the day.” – Hannah & Danny

Earlier in the day, Hannah’s preparations were wonderfully calm. One photograph shows her having her makeup applied, framed through a ring light, with all the attention focused on the final touches before the celebrations began. It’s a quiet image, but one that captures that strange mixture of excitement and concentration that often fills the morning of a wedding.

As the day moved on, the atmosphere became increasingly celebratory. Hannah and Danny clearly love being around their family and friends, and that came through in every part of the day. The dance floor was packed from the moment it opened, with guests throwing themselves into the celebrations. One image shows Hannah spinning across the floor with an enormous smile, completely lost in the moment. Another captures the couple dancing together beneath the bright open space of The Atlantic Hotel’s ballroom, surrounded by the venue’s beautiful architecture and natural light.

The Atlantic Hotel is perhaps best known for its location overlooking the Cornish coastline, and we were able to make the most of that too. One of the photographs from later in the day shows Hannah and Danny standing together above the sea, looking out across Newquay’s coastline. The dramatic skies, rugged cliffs and Atlantic Ocean provide an unmistakably Cornish backdrop, while the couple themselves remain intentionally soft and secondary within the frame. For me, it’s less about creating a portrait and more about placing them within the landscape where their wedding day happened.

Back inside, the celebrations continued. There’s a lovely image of two guests embracing on the dance floor, laughing as they hug, while other couples dance in the background. It’s a reminder that weddings aren’t just about two people getting married; they’re also about bringing together the people who matter most.

The evening finished in exactly the same spirit that had run through the entire day. One photograph shows Hannah and Danny sharing a kiss during a dance move while guests gather around them, watching, cheering and applauding. Another captures a quieter embrace between the two of them away from the crowd. Together, they perfectly reflect the balance of the day: moments of huge celebration alongside moments that belonged just to them.

Looking back through these photographs now, what stands out most isn’t any single event or detail. It’s the emotion. The tears before the ceremony. The uncontrollable laughter during the speeches. The pride of family members. The energy on the dance floor. And the obvious affection Hannah and Danny have for one another.

If you’re planning your own celebration and looking for an Atlantic Hotel wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you. The Atlantic Hotel remains one of Cornwall’s most iconic wedding venues, and it’s always a pleasure to document weddings there in a natural, relaxed and completely unposed way.
