Baldock Wedding Photographer
Alexandra and Danny’s wedding was one of those days that felt completely and unapologetically like them.
After a ceremony at All Saints Church in Baldock, everyone made their way to the reception – not at a hotel or wedding venue, but at Alexandra’s family home. The garden had been transformed for the celebration, with a huge marquee, colourful flowers, music, laughter, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that felt more like a summer festival than a traditional wedding.
One of my favourite moments came immediately after the ceremony. Rather than disappearing into cars, the wedding party danced and laughed their way down the road towards the reception, surrounded by friends and family. It perfectly set the tone for everything that followed.
“We just realised that we didn’t reply, I’m so sorry!
Just to say thank you SO much for the most amazing photos, they are absolutely beautiful and we honestly can’t stop looking at them!
We feel really guilty for not responding as soon as we looked at them, we’re obsessed and couldn’t have hoped for anything better. You were also such a pleasure to be around on the day so thank you for being such an awesome all round pleasure. If there’s anything else we can do e.g. feedback / testimonials or anything, we’d be really happy to.
Warmest wishes and loads of appreciation” – Danny & Alexandra
The day was full of little details that made it uniquely theirs. Flower crowns appeared throughout the celebrations, guests drifted between the garden and marquee, and at one point a turkey wandered through the scene while a brass band played – a sentence I never expected to write, but one that somehow feels entirely appropriate for this wedding.
I also loved the quieter moments. One of the opening photographs below shows a framed portrait of Alexandra while she’s getting ready in the background, creating a layered glimpse of both past and present in the same frame. Those small, unplanned moments are often the ones I find myself returning to.
The speeches brought plenty of laughter too. One image shows Danny’s dad laughing harder than almost anyone else in the marquee. Whether it was a private joke or simply a punchline that landed particularly well for him, I don’t know – but I love photographs like that. Weddings are full of shared experiences, yet everyone experiences them slightly differently.
As a documentary wedding photographer, those are the moments I’m always looking for: genuine reactions, real relationships, and the little things that could never be staged or repeated.
Here are a few of my favourite moments from Alexandra and Danny’s brilliant Radwell Mill wedding, Baldock.
