“Your work is just amazing, not just the photography skills you have, but your professionalism, your general attitude to how you work and how others felt around you. All the pictures are fantastic! I love each and every one of them” – Carina
Carina and Dan’s day was a double celebration, as not only were they becoming husband and wife, but they were also emigrating two weeks later, so it was also a huge leaving party. It was the first time I’d been a wedding photographer in Dorset, and I travelled up the day before, staying at the same hotel as the couple and meeting them for the first time that night at the church – and, my, what a church! The Priory in Christchurch is just magnificent, with the largest aisle I’ve ever covered at a wedding (it must have taken Carina a good five minutes to walk the length of it!).
Staying at the same place as the bride and groom, and where a lot of the other guests were also at, meant I was really mingling with everyone really early – from breakfast, actually! – and I think it really added to the relationship created, whereby I’m hopefully seen as more of a guest, rather than another wedding vendor. It’s always my aim to be as discrete as possible, to never really be heard or seen, and actually by making friends it makes ‘becoming invisible’ easier, bizarrely!
Carina and Dan are just lovely; I had such a good time with them and their family and friends – I’m sure they’re having a fab time in their new life in the sun!
