“Thank you so much for the photos at our wedding, I love them and look at them all the time. My favourites are the one of me and Ryan running, Jasmine holding her hair up, Lolly looking sweet and innocent and Blake looking very cool in his shirt. I got all three of them on canvas, going to get one of me and Ry on canvas but haven’t decided which one yet. Thanks again, and I will recommend you if any weddings come up!”
– Emma & Ryan
I’ve been so busy recently that I haven’t kept up with blogging many weddings – sorry about that! I’ve got lots from this year that I still need to feature on the site, so expect a fair few full wedding posts over the next couple of months, starting with Emma and Ryan’s wedding at Tregenna Castle, St Ives. Tregenna is a very popular wedding venue down here in Cornwall, and it’s easy to see why: a grand building, with acres of grounds and gardens, with a spectacular view over St Ives – it really does offer ‘the works’ so to speak.
Emma and Ryan were both getting ready in the hotel, so I started my coverage with the groom and his best man, before making my way to a (very busy!) bridal suite for Emma and her bridesmaids. To me, a busy room is great; full of laughter and excitement, hair tongs and make up, handbags and shoes; it’s a photographic feast! There’s no need to tidy away any ‘clutter’, as I photograph weddings as they are, without intervening at all – after all, all those elements are part of your day, and should be captured; why should anyone – let alone a photographer – come in and start moving things around? It’s not natural, and it’s not how I do things.
After the ceremony we took some fun shots around the grounds, and then headed back inside for some very emotional speeches. Emma and Ryan broke out a surprise Michael Jackson ‘Bille Jean’ element during their first dance, complete with groom moonwalk, and I stayed on to get some of the dance floor fun. One of my favourite shots is actually from this time, where a guest almost pours her glass of wine over another guest; I love her expression as this disaster is just averted! (5th photo from the bottom in this set).
So, without further ado, here are a selection of their wedding photographs:
