Looking Back at 2012: The Party

For the final part of my 2012 review I’ve selected some of my favourite photos from the party time – after the wedding breakfast, when the speeches are over, and the drinks and dancing flows!

I love all the different elements of covering the evening – from the crazy dance floor antics, to the quiet down-times – as is reflected from my choices below. By staying through the evening, until at least an hour after the first dance, I get to see and record so many memories that wouldn’t be captured if I just packed up my bags after the bride and groom took to the floor. Weddings, for me, although obviously about the happy couple, are also so much more than that; the family and friends, those special people who you’ve chosen to share your day, are really just as important to capture – and when the evening falls, and people start letting their hair down, well, it’s just a fantastic time for me to cover; I love it.

In 2012 I’ve been lucky enough to witness some great moments: Charlie and Mike hiring two professional dancers to do their first dance for them at The Scarlet, complete with extra-large face masks; Ryan’s groom moonwalk at Tregenna Castle; Claire and her bridesmaids performing a surprise dance routine at The Blue Bar, Porthtowan; action-packed ceilidhs at Crasken Farm and RCYC Falmouth; a full-on mosh pit at Fentafriddle; a Michael Buble impersonator going down very well at St Ives Harbour Hotel; a gorgeous sweeping lift of Christina at Pendennis Castle; chinese lanterns in Dorset and Porthilly Farm; magicians, casinos, caricature artists, classical guitarists, surf machines… the list just goes on and on!
