Polhawn Fort Wedding Photographer
I’ve photographed a lot of weddings at Polhawn Fort over the years, and no two have ever felt the same.
That’s one of the reasons I love the venue.
Of course, the location helps. Sitting on the cliffs above Whitsand Bay, with panoramic sea views, its own beach and enough space for lots of family/friends to stay on-site, Polhawn Fort is one of the most distinctive wedding venues in Cornwall.
But what really makes it special isn’t the scenery.
It’s the way people use it.
Because guests often stay for the whole weekend, weddings here rarely feel like traditional wedding days. They feel more like brilliant gatherings of family and friends that happen to include getting married. People settle in, relax and make the place their own. Children disappear off exploring. Guests wander between the beach, the lawns and the fort itself. Conversations continue long into the evening. And somewhere in the middle of it all, a wedding unfolds.
As a documentary wedding photographer, that’s exactly the sort of environment I love.
Over the years I’ve photographed outdoor ceremonies overlooking the sea, emotional speeches inside the fort, surprise aerobatic displays over the Cornish coastline, dogs who somehow became the stars of the wedding, beach walks at sunset, packed dancefloors and countless moments that couldn’t possibly have been planned.
What I enjoy most about Polhawn Fort is that it gives couples the freedom to create a wedding that genuinely feels like them. Some celebrations are large and lively; others are small and intimate. Some embrace the beach and coastline; others barely leave the grounds. The venue works beautifully for all of them.
Below you’ll find a collection of real weddings I’ve photographed at Polhawn Fort over the years. Every photograph was taken naturally, as the day unfolded. No posing. No staging. No awkward photoshoots. Just real people, real moments and real weddings at one of Cornwall’s most remarkable venues.
And if you’re looking for a Polhawn Fort wedding photographer, then I may know just the person…
