Wedding Photographer Merrydale Manor, Cheshire / Laura & James

Wedding Photographer Merrydale Manor

Ah this was an extra special wedding, timing-wise, as, after multiple postponements, Laura & James’ Merrydale Manor wedding happened just a few days after the covid wedding rules were lifted – so it was my first ‘proper’ wedding in a long time! And yes, I know I should have featured their day on the blog earlier (it was back in June 2021, and I’m only just getting round to featuring it now, in June 2023!), but I’ve been *so* busy since then, shooting lots of fab weddings, so you’ll have to forgive me.

Merrydale Manor itself is a cool venue in Cheshire, and it was my first time as a wedding photographer there. Lots of different spaces to make your own, and also lots of room for both wedding parties to get ready on-site as well. Also lots of open space, a little lake, field and wooded area, so all-in-all, a fab place to get married. Laura herself is a wedding and event planner, so she should know a thing or two about choosing venues! As that was her day-job, it was even more humbling that she chose me to capture it all for her, actually, as she must see a *lot* of wedding and event photography in her line of work!

Some thoughts about the Merrydale Manor wedding photography below:

  1. Emotion! Yes, real men *do* cry, and it’s always great to see. James getting emotional here as Laura begins to walk down the aisle with her dad.
  2. Confetti! Up close; I think you can really feel the joy and pent-up emotion of *finally* getting married after all the covid postponements.
  3. Confetti again, but a different angle.
  4. Love capturing hugs! I got up high here to a. get a different viewpoint, and b. so I can also include the confetti on James’ head, telling more of a story in the single frame.
  5. I like the mirroring of the gestures here, as James’ speech is introduced by the toastmaster.
  6. An emotional moment during the speeches. As I mentioned before, capturing emotion is what I *love* to do.
  7. Laughter during the Best Man speech.
  8. Couples always fiddle with their rings; a small detail, but again, part of the story that I want to capture.
  9. Really like this First Dance shot, as they’re both dancing and singing along. Purposefully framed to include their new surname in lights to the right.
  10. Party time! Laura & James up at the DJ deck, singing their hearts out.
