Wedding Photographer Mickleton Hills Farm, Cotswolds / Laura & Russell

Wedding Photographer Mickleton Hills Farm

Ah, always love shooting here – honestly, such a fab venue, and run by really lovely people who always make sure everything goes smoothly – love it 🙂 Laura & Russell themselves were a delight, too – super relaxed, no airs or graces, just there to thoroughly enjoy getting married and partying with all their loved ones!

I’m going to do what I’ve done for quite a few blog posts, now: Write a little bit about each image below. Hopefully that’ll give you more of a sense of me as a wedding photographer, my thoughts and approach, and hopefully this’ll be as interesting to you, as a couple, as it may also be to fellow photographers.

If you’d like to see more of my work from this venue, you can also check out this blog post: Mickleton Hills Farm Wedding Photographer / Christina & Dom.

Always a lovely moment to capture, this: The arrival of the bouquet! I’ve purposely included the flowers themselves, so you can see what Laura is reacting to, as well as the florist, as I love the expressions on both of their faces 🙂

Russell and his groomsmen milling around and welcoming guests, just about 15 mins before the ceremony is due to begin. Shot through a gap in the curtains during Laura’s prep because a. it’s important that the guests didn’t catch a glimpse of the bride before the ceremony, and b. it makes for a cool composition; I live the negative space, drawing your eyes around the frame.

What every bride wants to see, I think: Their dad getting all emotional! Shot from over Laura’s shoulder, so we can see in the same shot why he’s emotional.

Their First Kiss as husband and wife. Lovely light in the wedding barn, and I like the composition here with the couple on the right, and their smiling/applauding family on the left.

Just about to walk down the aisle after getting married, I’ve purposely shot from really low to get a different viewpoint (very easy to do with the cameras I have, the fab Sony A9, as I can use the flip-screen to see what I’m getting without having to lie down on the floor), and I love the contrast of them lit up by the expansive window light, whilst their family/friends are in the darker part – makes for a punchy image, I feel.

Like some of my couples, Laura & Russell wanted some ‘couple time’ shots, which is no problem at all, of course. You don’t have to have this at all – some of my couples want 100% documentary throughout, without any couple-time shots like this, and that’s also fine – but if you do want some, it’s a super-relaxed 5 – 10 mins, usually just walking around the venue, and you both just enjoying some time alone.

An extra fab thing about Mickleton Hills Farm: The sheep! This cutie was intrigued by the camera.

An emotional groom’s speech; purposely composed so we can see the speech giver and who he is talking about in the same shot.

Some of the more intimate shots can be found just after the First Dance, when less eyes are on the couple. Mine were still on them, though 😉

Love the partying! In close, so it feels like you were really there as a viewer, and, in this case, from above to get a different viewpoint. Love that big laugh!
