Wedding Photographer The Green Cornwall
I’ve put Lizzie & David in the title here, but I should really add Mollie as well – their super-cute dog that was a big part of the wedding! I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I do love dogs at weddings – more, please! I’ve been a wedding photographer at The Green quite a few times now, but I have to say this was one of my favourites; Lizzie & Dave are so lovely, so warm, and their wedding was such a fun, sing-along, everyone-having-such-a-great-time day; just loved it. Mollie too, yes, I may have only met you this one time, but I wish I could’ve picked you up and took you home with me – such a lovely woofer 🙂
“Hi Alan,
Well that was my day at work totally scuppered! I spent my entire free period just looking at them (I was supposed to wait for Dave, but I just couldn’t, I was too excited. He has forgiven me).
They are amazing. Thank you so much. I can’t believe we’ve got them back so quickly either. We’ll spend the entire evening (and probably many evenings) looking through them.
Here is what we’d like to say about our whole experience with you:
I’ve wanted Alan to photograph my wedding since I saw a friend’s wedding photos about 7 years ago, so I couldn’t believe my luck when he was free on our wedding date.
Alan’s photos are beautiful but it was his warmth, calm and kindness on our day that we were so impressed with. He became part of our wedding but never intruded on any moment and yet I know he captured them all. Our dog, mollie, was particularly taken with him and she’s pretty fussy with who she likes so he must be alright!
Even during the busiest season ever, Alan got our photos back to us within 3 weeks and they were everything we could have hoped for. They captured moments and people (and Mollie the dog) in the best way. They’re all amazing and we will struggle to pick our favourites. I can’t stop smiling looking at them. What incredible memories to have forever.
Thank you, Alan, for capturing our day in the most special ways ?
I’ve been a right loser/fan girl since that first email to you so a personal thank you from me. I am always in awe of your photos and may even take one of your workshops one day.
Take care.
Lizzie & Dave x”
Super kind feedback from them above, too – honestly, it means *so much* to get feedback like this, it really does.
As I’ve been doing for my past few blog posts, I’m going to show a selection of some of my favourite The Green Cornwall wedding photos below, and accompany them with some of my thoughts – hope you find the images and the words interesting.
Yes, I’m kicking off this post with two photos of Mollie, and I make no excuses for that! I think Mollie was the first person (OK, I know she’s not actually a person, but you know what I mean) that I saw, as I was approaching one of the houses at The Green to begin my prep coverage. She was outside playing with her ball, and of course I just had to play with her! Oh, I mean take her photograph, of course 😉 Ha but yes, I like this shot: Purposefully composing really low to the ground so I’ve got that different viewpoint, with the ball in the foreground, and Mollie’s expectant please-throw-it-now face in the background.
Mollie again 🙂 Because it’s not just the two-legged guests at weddings who have to get ready!
Lizzie had just got into her dress, and this is her mum turning the corner and seeing her there. I can only imagine what it must be like to see your child in their wedding dress…such an emotional moment. Love to capture moments like this; they’re so important.
I like to capture different viewpoints on things; here, getting low to focus on the train of Lizzie’s dress, and purposefully blurring all the rest of the shot, makes for an impactful image, I think.
A little nod to her new name-to-be – and I like how it’s also a sign of the times: I know I’m literally never without my mobile!
One of my favourite captures of the year, this. Lizzie’s Dad (in the background) had just seen his daughter in her dress for the first time, and they both get very emotional. It’s an honour that people let me in, so close, to capture such intimate moments of their lives like this. Here, Lizzie’s dad had turned away to wipe his own tears, and so I purposefully focused on Lizzie’s emotion whilst also keeping him in the shot – the sense of depth and light really adding to the moment, I feel.
One of my favourite things about their The Green Cornwall wedding was, in the afternoon, they had a couple of great singers, and all their family and friends all joined in with a big singalong. The image above could look like a First Dance, but it’s actually about 3pm! Taken from above so I can get Lizzie’s lovely expression as well as the singing guests.
Love capturing all the different emotions and looks in the speeches! Lizzie looking a tad embarrassed here during a story from her childhood, I think…
They had a lovely videographer, and she wanted to take the couple out for some golden hour footage…and so I just tagged along! No posing or directing at all, just letting them (and the videographer) do their thing. And yes, lovely light!
Some photobooth fun, purposefully composed so you can see the funny masks/hats, whilst also having context of the rest of the reception behind them – adds to the humour, I feel, to show the ‘normal’ background, combined with their outlandish outfits.
