Wedding Photographer Castle of Trematon, Cornwall / Lucy & Ivan

Wedding Photographer Castle of Trematon

Wow, what a unique venue Lucy & Ivan chose for their intimate wedding! The Castle of Trematon (also known as Trematon Castle), is a historic castle located near the village of Saltash in Cornwall. It’s situated on a high mound overlooking the River Tamar and has a history dating back to the 12th century – and is currently owned by the House of Hackney interior designers. What a fab place it is! It was my first time as a Castle of Trematon wedding photographer, and I loved it there; from the outdoor Indian-style pool (where they had their ceremony), to the leopard-print carpet, everywhere you looked was a feast for the eyes.

Lucy & Ivan had a super relaxed, intimate wedding, with just the 11 guests – and it seems everyone chipped in, with Lucy’s dress being handmade by her mum, her brother running the ceremony, Ivan’s brother doing the vows, his sisters both reading a poem… it was a truly family affair. A personal highlight was Ivan delivering the rings via remote-controlled car, too, ha, loved that.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – these photos are phenomenal! We’re so grateful for all your effort and expertise at capturing the magic in such a tropical paradise.” – Lucy & Ivan

Their wedding has just been featured in the latest edition of WED Magazine too.

Below are some of my favourite Trematon Castle wedding photography captures, with some of my thoughts as well:

I don’t usually show many ‘detail’ shots on here – I take them, of course, but for me, wedding photography is all about the people, so I tend not to show them on my site or socials much. But Trematon Castle…wow! What a place to get married, around this amazing pool – and especially when you luck out with the weather like Lucy & Ivan did.

Two ‘detail’ shots in a row, that must be a first from me! Though, even if I call this a ‘detail’ shot, it features people – that’s what it’s all about. This shot of Ivan and his brother actually preparing the button-holes is *so* much better than just a shot of the button-holes themselves, looking nice on table, for instance (in my opinion, of course!).

The first time I’d seen the rings being delivered by remote-controlled car! Love it.

I think another shout-out to Lucy’s mum for making the dress, don’t you think? A little confetti run just after the ceremony.

Cheers all round, but choosing to focus and emphasise the hands and glasses for this particular shot, making for a more dynamic image.

Another star of the show was Winnie the greyhound! I got down low here to get a different viewpoint on Ivan’s brother sneakily giving Winnie a taste of their 7-course wedding breakfast…

I’ve said it numerous times before, but I’ll say it again: It’s not just the couple who feel the love at weddings! I love to capture guests getting all romantic too – in this case, Lucy’s brother and his partner. You can tell I’m close, here, but people really don’t notice me, because I’m not posing or asking people to repeat things – people just ignore me, which is exactly what I want. My totally silent cameras really help too, of course.

I like how this can look a bit confusing, with a top-down view of a DJ and crowd, combined with a normal view of Lucy & Ivan (it was a projection from YouTube).

Dancing the night away with your nearest and dearest 🙂

Another shot of guests feeling the love! Fun side fact: Lucy’s brother was a guest at a different wedding I photographed just the week before this one, up in the Cotswolds. A total coincidence that I was then photographing Lucy’s (his sister’s) wedding here. Small world.

I hope you enjoyed looking through some of these Trematon Castle wedding photographer moments.
